June Fun

June was a good month as we finished up school and kicked off summer.  The boys got to go spend a weekend with cousin Jackson for his bday and then came home for the last couple school days.

Gray had an awards ceremony the last day of school. He was thrilled to win a first place trophy for a math program.  The assembly wrapped up with a 6th grade game of Simon Says with the teachers, which was pretty funny.  Gray loved the social aspect of 6th grade and enjoyed changing classes, making new friends, clubs at school, school sports, and of course PE and recess fun.  He doesn't love all school subjects, but gets really enthusiastic about math and history.

Joshua also got a trophy for math, but for some reason, his grade didn't do an awards ceremony this year.  He continued to do well managing middle school and enjoyed the school sports and his social life this year.  He is intrinsically motivated to do what's required of him and manages everything without help.
Julia also had an awards ceremony the last da and I went to see her but only got a quick glimpse because she intentionally hid behind classmates the whole time, as they sang, showed their Spanish, and stood up for running laps all year.  She loved her teacher this year and had lots of friends in her class.  She worked hard to do well and really enjoyed doing projects on China and Simone Biles.  She got the class award for being a super writer.
The boys did a lacrosse play league in June to keep up their skills.  They also started rec basketball that will last the whole summer.
The week school got out, we headed to Nanny and Pa's beach house.  This was our first vacation with the 6 of us and no one else but our family.  It was nice for the kids to just have each other for a few days and the beach is always a big hit!

We played on the beach every morning, which was a little chilly at times, but pretty calm.  Then Allie would take her nap (and me too!) and the big kids got to go somewhere fun with Matt, like go carts or water slides.  On our way home we stopped for a quick picnic breakfast on the pier.  Great trip!
We had a little down time in June and the kids found things to do around home, such as getting into the spirit of Aladdin, dressing up and dancing to the sound track....

...going over to Pa's and helping redo the deck...
 ...playing school on the porch...
...helping me cook meals for neighbors...
 ...pool time with friends...
...watching the boys' games with friends...
...and Joshua also began his "counselor in training" program at the rec center, which he really enjoyed.  June sure flew by!!
